| In early spring, the plum blossoms which decorate Gunma's countryside begin to bloom. Then, in early April, the cherry blossoms begin to emerge at the lower elevations throughout the prefecture and gradually begin spreading to higher ground. By the time the azaleas, irises and other flowers begin to compete with each other, Gunma's flower season is in full swing. |

| Oze (Katashina Village) |
| This is in a spectacular mountain range that includes Hiuchigatake, Mt. Shifutsu and others over 2,000m high, enclosing the world-famous high-altitude swampland of Ozegahara and the mysterious Ozenuma marsh. From May to June, the area is decorated with skunk cabbage flowers. |

| Tsutsujigaoka Park (Tatebayashi City) |
| A spot famous for wild azalea trees over 800 years old, and others of more than 50 varieties exceeding some 10,000 plants in all. They are at their best from April to May. |

| Cherry Blossom Country (Shimonita Town) |
| All over the Mt. Myogi range of peaks can be found someiyoshino (Prunus yedoensis), beautifully wild, double-flowering as well as some other 50 varieties of cheery trees, numbering about 15,000. Optimum viewing is from April to May. |

| Akima plum forest (Annaka City) |
| Close to Annaka Haruna Station on the Nagano Shinkansen (bullet train line), the plum forest covers hillocks with views of Mt. Myogi and Mt. Asama. It is the largest such spot in the Tokyo vicinity. Best viewing is in March. |

| The Obata castle town Cherry Blossom Festival (Kanra Town) |
| Famous as a cherry tree site, this castle town was once ruled by the Oda family in the 16th century. Processions of "samurai" warriors take place under the trees in full bloom. |

| Carp streamers (Kanna Town) |
| Children's Day festivals are held in Japan on May 5 every year. In this celebration, about 800 streamers contributed from all over the country gently undulate in the wafting breezes over the rivers. |
